Guest guest
Jenifer, I hope the information will be of some help to you! My daughter Remy had a combo head shape, too. She was mostly brachy, with some plagio. We started with aggressive repositioning when she was 5 months old. Ultimately we got great results from repo only, and didn't use a helmet or band. There are not too many of us in the group that have been able to get good correction from repo only. Her progress photos are here at the group site in the Photo/Before and After/Repositioned/Remy album. Remy is 3 years old now, so we finished repo a long time ago! I stay on in the group as a Repositioning Moderator to provide support and information to other parents trying repo. I am also very interested in plagio information/research/treatment data. It's always nice to have information, but the real heart of this group is having the support and caring of other group members going what you're going through. The vast majority of members of this group are parents of banded babies, and they will be able to support and inform you every step of the way. 7-10 days between casting and fitting sounds optimum, so Rennan should have a good fit. Will the Dr. be overseeing treatment with the helmet, but the ortho at Fit-Well will be making the actual adjustments? Or will the Dr. be making the adjustments to the helmet, too? Looking forward to hearing how the fitting goes, Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy) > Oh my gosh, Christie! You are an angel to find all of that for me! Thank you so much! I will keep posting my/our experiences. > > The surgeon (Dr. Morales) works for a hospital called Primary Children's Medical Center here in Salt Lake, which is one of the best hospitals in the intermountain west, and I have done quite a bit of research on the surgeon, who is apparently quite renowned. I found a mother from Florida who came here for him to treat her child. Apparently her child's sutures had fused and the brain was not able to grow, and she did some research which led her to him. I will ask him his experience and frequency of seeing scaphocephaly cases. Our casting was last Thursday, and they said it would take 7- 10 working days, so it could be this week or next. I will follow-up with some of the mothers whose e-mails you gave me. I sure appreciate your help. What is your child's name? What kind of plagio does he/she have? > > Thanks again. > > > > > > Jenifer , Mom of Rennan (29 week preemie) > Salt Lake City, UT > > > > > > __________________________________________________ >
