Guest guest
Amy, I would definitely make sure you have his bicarbs checked. The rapid breathing and vomiting are both what we saw from Langan when hers were critically low. It is very treatable but dangerous if left untreated AND can cause increased seizures. Maybe this is the missing part of the puzzle for you guys with the returning seizures??? , mom to Langan, 22 months old and keto kid since 11/03; med free since 4/2/04 > Hi! > Last night after his 10:00p.m. tube feed, Jake had a wretching spell > where he really seemed like he was going to vomit. Guest guest
Amy, I hope this finds your family, especially your son, doing well. I wonder if the rapid chest movement is an indication that he was (is) acidotic. I know this was a problem we continue to face. Let us know what you find out. Any ideas on breathing issue? Hi! Last night after his 10:00p.m. tube feed, Jake had a wretching spell where he really seemed like he was going to vomit. He has a nissen so this is nearly impossible, but he heaved and cried. He hasn't done that in weeks after eating. I was worried when we started the diet he was doing it a lot and I was hoping it wasn't metabolic. Anyway, after the choking episode last night I noticed he was breathing more rapidly and more shallow than I like. I stayed up all night last night worried sick. He is at the doctor with my husband right now, but I thought I would run it by you all and see if you had any thoughts. He is getting all his bloodwork and urinalysis done tomorrow so we will probably get an idea of whether bi-carbs or kidney stones or infection could be the culprit. Hope everyone is well.
