Guest guest Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Hi, I found this on a newsletter I get and wanted to share.. http://www.medicalmailorder.com/thyroid.html I figure with all the doctor co-pay's, and lab fee's, that this may be a great answer for those who can't afford all that, plus you can do it yourself. Pretty cool, a little pricey, and it only looks as if you get 13-14 tests in the kit. So, if I went to the doctor for blood tests at 15$ co-pays x 3-6 a year, depending.. thats 45$ plus lab fee's of 10-15$ per test, thats 90$ or (180$) depending. This test claims to last 18 months, so that would be a total of 420$ spent at doctor vs 325$ if my calculations are correct. Question is, will your physician actually take your word for it and change your medication dosages based on this test? I guess if your on a natural remedy then you can adjust your meds yourself. In retrospect, looking at things I went to my doc for over the last 2 yrs or so. If I had been more aware, I should have gone back and said "no, doc, I think this is something else, I think it needs to be looked into." Is that something you, Aussie Jane, could do with this doc ? "There's something here doc, and I want it looked into more." Might get her attention then and get things done. If it's a visible lump, goiters have to get really big to be visible. At that point, thoughts should be about squeezing the throat and impinging on arteries. Mine had moved one of my arteries, and was making my throat smaller at one spot. Look up the symptoms on thyca org about goiters, and , I think it was symptoms of it being cancerous. Though it seems any benign goiter that size could do the same. u.s. jane> > Do I need a barium drink scan to check oespharigus ? Guest guest Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 I read the page, and it is strictly for medical professionals to order from, as in presenting a lab certification for this. The Thyro Test was created what, a couple of yrs ago and is only for testing the TSH. We cannot order off of this site. HealthCheckUSA is the one for this, but there is another company I've seen on internet called (I think) DirectLab?? They were much more expensive than HealthCheck, and I don't think that they used to offer the Free values for the thyroid hormones, to the best of my pitiful memory. Healthcheck offers such a good comprehensive package at reasonable prices, that I just haven't bothered to look elsewhere any time lately. My lab draw is at my local hospital lab and is a LabOne location. This is required for the type of thyroid testing that we need. This time, I got my lab results back within 24 hrs, and was sitting and looking at them around 6 hrs after that. I'm on both T4 and Armour, and I do adjust my meds myself over the last 2 to 2 and 1/2 yrs. Made no more mistakes than all the sorry doctors I've ever been priviledged to go to, including that one Endocriminologist. No that wasn't a typo. Guest guest Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 I would like to look into this Armour product. Does it replace Levoxyl or Synthroid and what are its benefits? I heard something here about a natural vs. synthetic hormone. Sorry, I know nothing more than what I *thought* I read. Thanks, and your right about the endo scene, I haven't been to one in a long time, and he's a complete bafoon with two orifices, makes plenty of money but doesn't want to talk to me about my problem, instead he wishes to shoot the shizit, and I don't. I want to get to the root of fixing my problems. Take care..
