Guest guest
Hi, It has been a bit since I've been on, but we are the ones that the dietician keeps putting on hold due to maternity leave. Well, they finally said " NO " they will not do it until after the dietician gets back from leave - sometime in June. We have an internist specializing in metabolic issues that says the j-tube won't be that big of a deal, we just have to watch and handle whatever comes up. He thinks starting now would be fine, but the dietician doesn't want to. I don't see what the big deal is. They keep saying that there may be side effects - as if there aren't side effects with meds! This diet is the only good option we have. In any case, I am devastated! We've waited for 10 years to try this and now they say, what's the hurry! Well, watch your child have seizures for 19 years and see how you answer that question. Plus, we've jumped through their hoops, having test after test, seeing docs for their opinions, for 3 weeks and now they say - Oh we think we'll wait. Anyway, my question is - are there any centers that do the Keto diet in WI or MN? Anyone have any info I would appreciate it. We can't sit here and do nothing for 3 months, and uping a medicine only to take her off of it if the diet works seems pointless. Also, has anyone tried the Atkins diet through a feeding tube? That may be an option for us to do while we wait for everyone elses life to straighten out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, From one very sad mom - Marsha
Guest guest
Marsha- Green Bay--isn't taking any new patients- they are phasing out the keto program-dietician that's listed as well as the RN are both gone-new dietician is not the best- takes her months to get info to you. Milwaukee-Children's is a fairly new program(I think about 2-3 yrs.) Don't know much about them Madison-As of a year ago they didn't have a keto program at either of the places listed. The neuro listed at UW-Clinic is Definately Pro-keto diet. He's Savanna's doc and was very impressed with what Green Bay was doing with her. We haven't been back for some time so maybe they have started a keto program. Kathy/WI
