Guest guest
Kim, I'm not sure how to argue that he needs this counseling, except to mention some behavioral issues he is exsibiting and maybe work on getting him qualified in his IEP as needing behavioral modifications. Tell them his stress level is really high because even though he is hearing very well he is afraid that he is missing something so it's not about what he is or isn't getting it is what he thinks he is getting. If that doesn't work and nothing works I suggest trying through your insurance company to get him some professional counseling outside of school to help deal with these stressers. Of course you should work on getting someone who is experienced with the unique needs of the hearing impaired child. I would argue that the counselor they currently have is not doing any good and if anything is doing harm and he needs a way to sort out his stress, someone who knows about his individual issues and how to defuse them.
