Guest guest
Well I guess I will start I don't make resolutions for the simple fact that a month later I usually break them, and then it just makes me feel like a total failure. I like Topper idea just to make a plan to do or try something new during the year. I haven't quite decided what that means for me this year yet but I will do something. Oh I know maybe try to get my fingers and my brain on the same level when I am typing so people can understand what I am saying.lol Or I can try not to be such a weird freakazoid this year. I know I am odd about something such as Topper and I where talking about last night in IM I do not shake hands cause of germs but i am a big hugger I love to hug people. Guest guest
I'm not good with New Year's resolutions.. something comes up or something changes and I revert back and then I spend the rest of the year feeling like I can't do anything right.... so I changed it a while back to be something new to try that year.... One year it was web design, oh heck.. before that it was setting up a web site.. using the free tools on the free host... then I wanted to learn how to do it better.. so then it was learning web design. One year it was starting to exercise again, with weights. I used to be a body builder. This year... I want to do a podcast. A podcast is like a radio show, without the commercials, that can be download to a computer or an Ipod or an MP3 player and listened to when ever you want. You can even store them to CD if you have a CD burner. It won't be a weekly thing... more like chapters several times during the year... but my goal/hope this year is to learn how to do them and set up to do the first one. It will by thyroid based, of course.... something along the line of a beginner's tutorial for understanding thyroid disorders, diagnosis and beginning treatment.... then move on from there... Would also like to do something on easier ways of doing everyday chores for folks that are still having trouble with energy levels and endurance and something on Bedxercise for the folks that are just getting to where they want to try to exercise but can't do what 'regular' folks do. Still stumped on how to lay it out.... To have a two person conversation/talk show format would be easiest.. but I'll most likely be doing it solo.... So first step, as I learn the mechanics of the recording and such is to come up with the script..... sigh..... maybe tooo big a project? But it will be exciting... and I still have more than 11 months to learn it all try it out and publish!!! I'm made a small promise to myself, too.... I really really want to spend more time on my book... I would really like to get it finished and published... Just need to come up with a realistic plan to make time to do it..... I'm trying to make it a reward thing.... if I get all my 'have to's' done then I can spend time on the book... it's fun to do... I love the story... every time I review it to get back in to it to continue writing I get all excited about it... can't wait to see how the story ends!!! heheheh but I just get involved doing other things. Toward my two goals... the podcast and the book... I've FINALLY gotten a laptop set up in the bedroom... this will allow me to, if nothing else, do dictation into the laptop while I'm doing my MLD or stretching exercises..... can't do it too well during the rest cuz I have to count.... so I'd be saying two words, then the count, then two more words, then the count..... that would drive me nuts to go through later!!! hehehehehee I've also downloaded a pretty impressive (for a dialup connection) of podcasts and audio books.... The thought being that they are educational (the podcasts are all tech related) and entertaining (great stories about Sherlock Holmes and 's enstein, and Bram Stoker's Dracula) things that will get my brain back in gear with how wonderful it is to be entertained by a story, a book.... Audio books are AWESOME.. you have a person reading you the story so that you can do other things at the same time.... Don't get me wrong, I LOVE to read... but when there are other things that you want or need to do it's hard to take time out to read.... Or while exercising... it's great fun to put on a story and listen.... With the technology today.... free stuff even... you can listen to an audio book, and stop it at whatever point, then pick it up at the same spot.... it's just a LOT of fun, for me anyway. Did you know that the story The Wizard of Oz is only the first book in a whole series? Yep.... I'm in the process of downloading book number 7 right now.... If I remember right, it's called Patch Work Girl If anyone is curious about downloading the audio books and getting a the player that I mentioned... give me a holler.... I can give you the link to the free audio books (just so you now.. the free versions aren't the greatest recordings, only 8 bit, if you want to pay for them you can get higher quality recordings... but the 8s aren't all that bad.. .and they are free) and the player.. I have the name of it... but don't know for sure if I have the link.... you might have to google it..... The player would be the one used to listen to podcasts as well, if you want to listen to them on your computer... there are THOUSANDS of free podcasts too.... Oh poop... I'll give links.... Free audio books www.audiobooksforfree.com A listing of podcasts, check to be sure which are free, free subscription, and which are paid subscription www.podcastalley.com There is another list... over at AOL.. can't remember how I found that one... but I've heard that PodCastAlley is the biggest list. The player is called 1 by 1 I checked... I didn't save the link...but it's a small download, the zipped file is under 1 meg... and it's just perfect for listening to things when you have time and then starting up at the same spot the next time you can listen. You should be able to google it. I'll shut up now... can't tell I get excited about things, can you? hehehehehe Anyone want to help with a script??? hehehehee Topper ()"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. Guest guest
I don't really do resolutions. My motto is "Survival is Victory" and that seems to pretty much sum things up year to year. I have a list of some things that I would like to target this year: make progress with my newly discovered thyroid issue via finding a suitable medical professional and the right meds, make progress on my weight loss so that I don't have to buy a new wardrobe, make healthy choices, and that sort of thing. But, I am pretty much a realist having lived with chronic pain and limitations for 20+ years now and I just take things as they come. The one goal that I truly have each year and succeed with is to continue to add to my knowledge about my body and health issues. There is strength in knowledge and I tend to be most proactive in my health care. I am also an optimistic person so I approach life with an attitude of finding a way through the challenge. I have a lot of persistence and perseverance when it comes to things that I wish to achieve. I suppose one specific goal that I do have for 2006 is to finish painting the interior of my house. This is a project that should have taken a month maximum and it will end up taking me at least a year to accomplish. BUT, I am doing it and there is a great sense of self satisfaction in taking on such a huge job and succeeding. Guest guest
That sounds like quite the project, but one you will be proud of once it has been completed. Nope, I don't want to do it. haha. Poop brown sounds delightful. My house is taking so long partly because I am painting in COLOR instead of the existing white. That forces me to carefully line along areas where the white is (ceiling, woodwork, baseboards). Then, I go and decide to complicate it a bit more by doing two colors in the same room, so I have some walls a darker shade of the primary color and more careful lining of edges. I am finally down to a spare bedroom, office, laundry room, and finishing the toilet room in the master bath. I do love the colors though. Sandy -- Re: Theme Day is here!
