Guest guest Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 May 31 is our homecoming for JD. Yesterday , and I had a care conference with the doctors. We were told that JD is still requiring the Vent. to breath and until he gets a little bit more bigger that he will more likely go home with a Vent. This will be temporary, just that JD needs to grow some more and let his lungs develop. and I are okay with that and yes it is a little bit scarey. Yes I am very scared about this but know that we can get through this. Speech Therapy will be doing a swallow test today to see if JD can handle having food. If it works then he will be starting on Rice Cereal. This is good news because as soon as he can handle food and get all of his nutrition then they can take the G-Tube out. JD is also going to get his Helmet for his head. We will have to go once a week to get it adjusted and we do not know how long he will have the helmet. So, May 31 is going to be the date to take our little man home. I have been communicating with Early Childhood Intervention to get things going and we will be having a home healthcare nurse to come and help us out. We will be meeting again in two weeks for another care conference. Thanks so much for everyone for prayers, asking about JD. & , parents to Olivia and JD (CHARGE: Choanal Atresia, Heart Repair, TE-F Repair, G-Tube, Trach , Hernia Repair and A Happy Little Man ) 7 1/2 months Quote

Guest guest Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 That's good news. Do you have nursing care set up? I felt so much better when we finally got Kennedy home. Quote

Guest guest Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 Wow-- I can't imagine your mixed emotions at finally having the homecoming date! Elation that he's finally coming home -- and fear of the unknown in caring for all his " stuff " ... You've managed so well with so many challenges already that I think managing him at home will be a relief in comparison. I can't wait to hear more once he's home and settled into the family!
