Guest guest
Thank you I really appreciate that. What I think is going on is that his brain is healing so the severe processing problems he had are getting better and what is now showing up seems to be a low frequency 40 dB loss. The thing is his audi's (which we are currently trying to change) have their minds set that he doesn't have a hearing loss and that he simply doesn't process sound well and therefore he has inconsistant results. The thing is they have never tried to test him consistantly. They haven't tried to work with him on the play audiogram they have only done visual response and with that they take all sorts of things as a response that I am sure is not a response and mark it. On her report she said that he hears to 40 dB in the 500 Hz range and then goes on to note that she couldn't get good replicability indicating what she saw as a response once probably was just him fidgeting. And behaviorally he wasn't cooperating. Then this is what gets me she goes on to say that based on this he has normal hearing. Nice! She doesn't recomend further testing. I'm thinking how could she possable say he hears to 40 dB and she couldn't get repeatability out of that and his responses weren't very reliable because behaviorally he wasn't cooperating and then say everything is normal. If she knew what she was doing she would recomend further testing to try to get a more consistant response out of him and then if we couldn't call it processing. Anyway is now saying mommy, but he won't say daddy he sais nanny which looks like daddy. This is why I wanted to see the frequency chart, I wanted to see where everything was. d is around 300 Hz where as M is a little lower both at 40 dB. My conclusion is that probably he can easily see an m and so can figure out mommy, but with daddy it looks like an N. He doesn't hear G's well either and there is some question about his high frequencies also. The vowels are all pretty good except A and I which are at 40 dB a little over 500 Hz so basically everything we are seeing tha the is saying and not saying or repeating makes sense now based on that chart. It deffinatly reflects his testing. By the way he has been saying these things since after we started using the soundfield system with him. It is just so frustrating that the audi's have their mind made up before they even see him. They consider that the brain damage caused issues with processing but don't even consider the possability that it could have damaged his auditory nerve. Go figure. This confirms what I have been thinking and I really appreciate it. This really helps me understand what is going on with him and I will be sure to amplify when using those sounds he is having trouble with. frequency sound chart > Can someone tell me where I can find one of those charts with which sounds are heard at what frequency levels online.
