Guest guest Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Hi everyone, I'm Sunny, new to the group. I have rectal cancer and had surgery in Nov, had to have a colosomy. I had 6 weeks of radiation and chemo and now I'm half way through my 4 treatments of chemo. 5 days on and 28 days off. If anyone has had the 5FU chemo, how do you control the skin rashes? I went over all the side affects that can happen with this chemo, but I believe new ones are happening with me.LOL. Instead of sores inside the mouth, I'm getting sores around the mouth, instead of my palms getting sensitive, the pigments have turned very dark, can not keep moisture in my skin at all. The rash have made managing my ostomy very troubesome. Anyone has any suggestions? Sunny in GA Quote
Guest guest Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Welcome to this group, though I'm sorry you need to be here. You will find info and support a plenty! You did not say what kind of doctor did your procedures but I'm guessing it wasn't a colorectal surgeon. Personnally, I would grab all my medical records, xrays, scans, labwork, etc.and run to a cancer center for another opinion!! You have a right to be scared and should be 'scared into action! This is not something to sit back and just'wait & see'. Good luck & let us know how things go. Hugs & Prayers, H.
