Guest guest Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 Janet, I found out I had cancer in May 2002 Stage #3 5.7 i think...had to many lymph nodes infected to have reconstructive surgery...had mastecomy of left breast...Had operation on Memorial Day Week-end 2002, Finished Chemo 8 rounds of it every 3 weeks on Veterans Day 2002 and Finished 2 months of Radiation on Valentines Day 2003..Just happened that way...My mom and I were trying to get through this together and then she passed away suddenly in Sept 2002...For the grace of God and my Mom I went on with my chemo and then radiation..It was very hard because I lived alone...In December 2002 by boy friend movved from North Carolina to Delaware...In Oct of 2002 they opened a new Cancer Center...Helen F.Graham Cancer Center in Newark, Delaware near the hospital and near where I work...I was lucky..I love to knit and gave the chemo center an afghan I had made for them when I finished my Chemo...On Valentines Day I gave the ladies in Radiation a box of chocolates...Everyone at the Center was so wonderful...I went back there for check-ups every 6 months... I was working at the time and it was very difficult because the ladies in the office did not really care...All they could think of was now I have to do a little extra work...Worked at a Community College taking tuition payments...Account Technican....I had to miss some work... I finially retired in Sept 2004 and then moved to North Carolina in Dec 2004 to be near by boy friends family... It was hard to move and start over..Lived all my life in Delaware...My sister still in Delaware but we are not close...My Dad (46) and brother (32 1/2) when they passed on...My Mom was 83... It was hard when I moved because I had to find a new Cancer Dr. Lucky I found one real close but the building is not as nice as the New Cancer Building in Delawre and I go for check-up every 3 months... I started on Tamoxifen for almost 2 years and now taking arimidex for a little over 2 yrs ... have 2 more years to go... Good luck in everything... Betsy (NC) Quote
