Guest guest Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 When the adrenals are fatigued, adding adrenals support increases the body's ability to use the thyroid hormone better... has to do with how the receptors work and such.... My guess would be, considering the timing.. that it's a case where your body wants more thyroid hormone..... since you have labs coming up... try to hold out so that you can have those labs as scheduled and then with the readings, get the increase in dosage on the thyroid.... IMHO, of course... Remember it's even recommended by the manufactures of thyroid hormone replacement that adrenals be checked before starting thyroid hormone...it's the docs that are too stupid to follow through on that.... Misfiring adrenals impact thyroid that much... Your temp is looking good.. how is your resting pulse rate? I felt so much better, so immediately, such relief. Now...the last 3 days or so I've been feeling bad again. I'm tired, can't wake up easily like when I first started taking it, really tired around 2pm again, feeling better in the late afternoons/evenings. I had a migraine this morning, but there's also a Tropical Storm (Zeta) out there, and tropical systems/hurricanes always trigger my migraines, but this one isn't paricularly strong and it's pretty far out there, so I'm thinking maybe it's less a storm-induced migraine and more a hormone induced one. Now I have to figure out...which hormone(s)??? Should I increase the Adrenal? I tried a few days taking an extra 1/4 tablet, making a total of 3/4 tablet once a day in the mornings, and it doesn't seem to matter if I take a half or 3/4 of it. It's been the same amount of time since my last Synthroid dose change, but I didn't feel the difference until the 5th week the first two times I increased the dose, but this time we decreaed (from 100mcg to 88mcg), so would I feel the change sooner due to that? Did the addition of adrenal make my body use up more of the thyroid hormones and now I just need to increase again back up to 100mcg? Perhaps my thyroid is just getting worse and that's all it is? Is it too soon for a blood test, and would my doc even entertain one this soon? Should I just tough it out for a couple more weeks and see what happens? I feel so lousy again, I felt so great for a little while and it was such a blessing and wonderful to have my brain back. Still is, though possibly my brain function has decreased slightly in the last few days, hard to tell exactly, it's no where near as bad as before, just doesn't feel like I'm thinking as clearly as before. I'm so tired of feeling tired and run down. I feel like a slug, like a complete moocher, like I should be contributing more to life but just can't. ARG. Symptoms that have returned, to a degree: a little bit more constipation than before, but I'm taking Magnesium for it so it's not a problem at all, it's just I've noticed it's more "solid" than perhaps a week ago, and the swelling in my ankles is back. Definitely fatigue is back, and some mild depression is creeping back in. I've noticed that my appetite is lagging again...I made rigatoni for dinner last night and barely touched it. I'm also craving simple sugars, carbs, chocolate, and nuts. I'm still taking my vitamins and supplements, plenty of selenium though I was converting fine but don't know if it was because of taking that so I still take it anyway. My temperatures have evened out between 98.4-98.6. Thoughts? Suggestions?-- (stewlis)ville, NC, USA Quote
Guest guest Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 My pulse has always been around 80 at the doctor's. How long should I be sitting still before checking for a resting pulse rate? I need to check my BP, too. I have one of the home monitors and I keep tabs on it (though not lately, been lazy with checking) because it was running so high for so long. My allergies are flaring up again...was having bad ear problems (stopping up, drainage, hurting) for the longest time, since about this time last year, and it finally went away for the first time in December. Now it's back. My right ear/throat below ear hurts again, and feels " full " . The combo of Claritin and Sudafed works, and I bought some 12 hour Sudafed before but didn't need it cos it got better...guess this is me taking it again today. I hate taking Sudafed because it raises BP. I'd take Coricidin, but I have to have the decongestant and that's the part that raises the BP. I guess I'll take my BP once before taking the Sudafed again and see what it's running now that I haven't had any in my system for about a month. I wasn't scheduled for more blood work until 3 months from December 10th, since we thought we hit it right with the 88mcg dose. However, I'm sure if I called her at the 6 week point and said I'd been dragging around for the last 3 weeks (will be 3 by that point anyway) then I'm sure she'd suggest rechecking then instead of waiting another 6 weeks. OT: Don't you hate when you download updates for windows and then tell it you don't want to restart right now, and it goes away for like a minute then pops back up asking again? I have to drag myself out of the house today and go get groceries. I so desperately need a " real " shopping trip at this point, and I just don't wanna. I would send my hubby, and he'd do it, but I've learned that if I want actual food in the house (not just meat, potatoes, and snacks) I have to do that myself. LOL! Oh well, will probably be good for me to get out. It's cold out though. *shiver* Me and cold weather don't mix well. Just breathing in cold air makes my lungs burn. Shouldn't be quite that cold out, but it's not supposed to be over 40 today here so it's not going to be exactly fun. Okay, I'll stop complaining and go take a shower already. Dumb doctors. I even read that in the thyroid hormone papers. She verbally screened me for adrenal fatigue, I remember her asking me those questions that I could answer " yes " to every one after starting thyroid hormone, but the thyroid was masking the symptoms at first. She should have checked by actual testing instead. Like I said before, though, she's not an endo and she told me she didn't know everything about this stuff, but she's willing to learn, and I'm willing to play guinea pig if that is going to mean I have some freedom to " help mysef " through her prescription writing powers (LOL) and also if it means it will educate her and other docs she talks to so it helps others along the way. This will just be a major lesson for her to learn...check the darn adrenals first! Ok, done ranting....shower! Then food...though I'm not particularly hungry this morning, I find that if I don't eat an hour after taking the meds, my tummy gets all icky feeling. (stewlis)ville, NC, USA Quote

Guest guest Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 I'm 26...not even close to menopause (at least, not unless something is terribly wrong). My last period was sometime in December...I'm on quarterly menstural cycles (4 a year) to prevent me from having those particular 2 migraines a month that come at the onset and offset of my period. I couldn't even tell you how many pregnancy tests I took before being tested and finding out I was hypothyroid in September. All the fatigue, cravings of chocolate and carbs, moodiness/depression, swelling in lower legs, general achiness....all came down to thyroid. You know, I used to have bouts of nausea, too, but thinking back now, I haven't had one of those episodes since starting Synthroid...don't even know what the connection would be there or even if there is one. <//ranting here majorly, you can skip this if you like, won't miss anything...just having a bad day and need to get it out of my system!!!> Today started out so good compared to recent days, and now I'm feeling like crap. I went to the grocery store, and that's what started my present mood (very bad, to say the least)...they didn't have half of the things I wanted, so that means i have to make a trip to walmart sometime soon and I hate (read: LOATHE) going to walmart here in this town unless I go at 6am because it's so crowded. At least they have what I want usually, but it's almost not even worth it to go there to get it. Then I got home, and hubby was home early and that disrupts my whole routine when he does that, it's not his fault, he feels bad a lot lately and we haven't figured out why...he tried my adrenal supplements and that's not doing anything for him, and I don't know if it's just stress or what, but we feed off each other in the worst way, and so that was annoying to me to have my day knocked off kilter, though I even half expected them to get out early today since it's Friday. Anyway, I had bought hamburger, and the (very young) guy who had done my groceries put it sitting up on it's end, and of course the nasty hamburger blood leaked all over the place, in my trunk, on my kitchen floor, dripping on the carpet on the way through the house cos I didn't know it was like that til I unpacked it from the bag, and then I had to clean that mess up, and in the process, was frustrated and broke a glass in the kitchen sink, so had to clean THAT up, then went back to sweeping and mopping the floor to get up the glass and hamburger goo. UHG. What a day! So I did all that, and of course I can't just mop one area, I have to go ahead and mop the entire kitchen, laundry, and bathroom because they're the linoleum floors in the house and I figure I might as well do them all at the same time if I " m goign to do drag out the mop and bucket for one. So then of course that makes me have to take up the rugs in the bathroom and I simply can't mop and put down dirty rugs (even though they weren't exactly dirty, but they weren't fresh on the clean floor " clean " you know? Type A personality here). So I'm washing the rugs to put them back down. I'm at least somehow finding the energy to do this, though it feels like that kind of raw energy you get when you're entirely frustrated and need to take it out on something. I take it out on cleaning. It's a good therapeutic thing, actually...it allows me to vent my anger and frustration and I end up with a nice clean house and things in order again which calms me. I've even been known to just be ticked off cos the house is in disarray and my sister is like this too. We both get very moody if our houses aren't the way we like them, and something in us just snaps and we start cleaning. It usually is triggered by something...someone makes a mess somewhere, or you spill something, or notice there's toothpaste in the sink....and it's like a snowball rolling down a mountain, you just can't stop and a quick swipe of whatever is not clean, because then you're looking closer and you see everything that's dirty and it's a crazy thing. You end up cleaning the whole house. My husband started realizing I was usually mad or upset about something when the house got that type of clean, and he's realizing now I think that it's not always that I'm emotional, that sometimes I just need to expend negative energy within myself and achieve a clean house. LOL. Ok, I feel better now after complaining about things. I think I still feel like cleaning, the livingroom is a mess, but maybe I'll just make the bed and crash on it for a while and ignore the livingroom. That room is pointless to clean on a weekend anyway. >> It's been 3.5 weeks since I started taking Adrenal support, and wow, has it> only been that long? The general rule for pulse and blood pressure is to relax for 10- 15mins before you do the testing. Although if you feel like something is going on and you are active you can test it then just make a note of it being your active rate and not your resting rate. Kats3boys Quote

Guest guest Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 I suspect it is the nature of thyroid that we feel good one day and feel like s & ^% the next. I know yesterday I felt pretty good and today I could dig a hole, crawl in it and pull the dirt over me. I keep thinking that I should be miraculously fixed..but that is just wishful thinking. Especially since the thyroid controls so much stuff in our bodies and I have been dealing with this for over 25 years undiagnosed. So I guess we better accept the fact that it is going to take time to repair and heal. laura c. Re: Feeling Bad Again My pulse has always been around 80 at the doctor's. My right ear/throat below ear hurts again, and feels "full". I so desperately need a "real" shopping trip at this point, and I just don't wanna. She verbally screened me for adrenal fatigue, I remember her asking me those questions that I could answer "yes" to every one after starting thyroid hormone, but the thyroid was masking the symptoms at first. She should have checked by actual testing instead. Like I said before, though, she's not an endo and she told me she didn't know everything about this stuff, but she's willing to learn, and I'm willing to play guinea pig if that is going to mean I have some freedom to "help mysef" through her prescription writing powers (LOL) and also if it means it will educate her and other docs she talks to so it helps others along the way.

I can understand that totally. I did the very same thing yesterday being without that chemical my med give my brain it just set me off and I went at it with all i had in me and at least was clean then I went to lay down and rest and cried the rest of the day and night. Guest guest Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 OMG , we sound related, lol!! The Sudafed----I have drug holidays from it too, but it's the only thing that opens my nose in a big way. Yes, it raises blood pressure, but so does having hurting ears anf stuffed sinuses. One of the best pharmacists I've ever known in this area told me exactly that one time, and I believe it. I feel uncomfortable in EVERY way, when my breathing is bad. I also use that Simply Saline stuff (because of that long spout it has, to do nasal washes, and that helps too. I'm currently using Beconase spray also, but I also take holidays from that too, for around a month or so at a time. I'm also taking the Claritin, but I prefer Allegra, but haven't gotten around to ordering that expensive stuff yet. Re: Feeling Bad Again My pulse has always been around 80 at the doctor's. I so desperately need a "real" shopping trip at this point, and I just don't wanna.
