Ear Surgery

The surgery is tympanotomy and resection of Arnold nerve.

It s/l umbul. He states it was left attached.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have not not spoken to you before, but I know what an amazing women

you are, and how proud your mom is of you. ( I am the nutty mom who is

always wishing Amelie will reach 21 quickly and be like you!!)

Fingers crossed for you that the op's a success, it cant be very nice

with all these ear infections, so hopefully it will help you. Amelie

my little babes is profoundly deaf, with very poor vision, and as I am

quickly learning from everyone on here, there are many ways to

communicate, you and your dad will work it out somehow.

It must be frustrating to lose hearing. My guess is that your dad will jump

on the sign bandwagon when he realizes that it will be his only way to

communicate with you. He sounds like Aubrie's dad -- he's a great guy who

loves her to pieces, but he'd like to forget she has CHARGE sometimes. DJ

has never tried to learn any sign. Lucky for him, Aubrie is doing well

enough verbally. But if the day came that she lost her hearing, I bet it

would take a while for him to get it and realize that he had to learn. Once

your dad " gets it " he'll be sure to find a way to communicate with you. I

can't imagine that he wouldn't. Have you told him that it worries and

frustrates you?

Hello, Pal,

I am happy to hear about your surgery--especially if it will take care of all

the problems you have been having with those ears!!! I am glad that you are ok

about--that is the best way to go into surgery.

And...about communicating with YOUR dad: do you really think it will become a

problem? You and he have such a good, tight relationship that I am sure that you

two will be ok.

I have perfound hearing loss on my left ear and moderite to suviere in my

right ear and you wouldnt know i was hearing impared by talking to me. I

think people who had better hearing in their early years probably are better

at speaking clearer then someone who was born deaf. Thats probably why Patty

speaks clearer then some people who i know who have been deaf since birth.
