We are still in shock with this news as there is no hearing loss in our families and I had a normal pregnany with no complications. Hi Alison. You will learn a lot here and get great support and suggestions. I joined the list a couple years ago when my son was first diagnosed. 's loss was detected at birth through the hearing screen at the hospital. After follow up appointments it was confirmed that he had a severe/profound loss. He received hearing aids at 3.5 months and so began our journey. I feel like we've come a long way in these past few years but I also know there is so much to experience and learn as we continue our journey. is 3.5 years old now. He uses a CI and a hearing aid and is oral. Like you, we have no family history of hearing loss, no pregnancy complications, and tested negative for the connexin gene. K 's mom Quote
