Hi,

My daughter is 4 and was having problems sleeping through the night so her

doctor suggested giving her melatonin before bedtime. She currently weighs

around 33 lbs.and is on the ketogenic diet for seizures.

Her neuro told me to give her 2.5 mgs. every evening, but since starting

about 3 weeks ago she is just zonked in the morning till about 1 or 2 p.m. I

think this may be too high of a dose and would like to get an opinion from

parents

out there who may have tried this.

Thanks,

Heidi, future occupational therapist and single mom to (IS,

Severely/Multiply Impaired) and (4 years), and big sis Madison (almost

6!).

I have given my 24 month old daughter (21 lbs) 3 mg and it did nothing, but they

do make Melatonin in 1 mg pills. I'd try giving her a little less Melatonin and

see if that helps her not to be so groggy the next day.
