You can't imagine (actually, yes you can!).

I'm so excited, yet at the same time I realize there's so many more

challenges...

I think if I hear anyone say that they got pregnant without trying I might

strangle them (just kidding!).

> i had my appt fri and wanted to update everyone on my case. i had

a lap/hys june 13. had the balloon in for 5 days, anti biotics for 1

week, and estrogen for 30 days. i got my period 1 week after

finishing the estrogen. what a relief to see that. i was cautiously

optimistic though b/c i had been getting periods all along. they

were extremely painful, but i got them. this one was nothing. no

cramps, nothing. i didn't know what to think.

uterus is wide open, the cervix looks 'beautiful' my endometrium on

day 7 was 5mm which he said was good b/c it was still early in the

cycle. he wasn't concerned with this at all and said the main thing

was that it was continuous. the entire time i was waiting for the

other shoe to drop for some bad news and it never came. i am still

in a state of shock that all is clear and that he said we could ttc.

MAry lou, I was just catching up on some posts, this is definitely the most exciting post I have read in a while. This is wonderful that you have gotten the green light after all you have been through. It is so exciting to hear that surgery can go right, how encouraging for the rest of us. I am actually going for my first HSG this Monday and I am soo apprehensive after hearing how painful it is.It will be followed by surgery some time thereafter he would like to wait a month, but we are soo presured to get back to Israel sooner. We will ask the doctor to do the surgery sooner. Have you ever heard of waiting soo long for surgery after the HSG >??? The Dr says there is a higher risk of infection doing it sooner. please respond if you have any info to offer.

Hi Theresa,

Good to hear from you and congratulations on your pregnancy!

I would immediately call your doctor to check if it is safe to continue any

medications you are on during your pregnancy. You will probably be monitored

as a high risk pregnancy to keep a close eye on your BP and protein spill. I

had two very successful pregnancies after I got IgAN.

I wish you all the best with yours.

Congratulations!!! Kris and I wanted to try for kids after we got

married last Oct, but by that time, my kidney function was too low

and they had to put me on prednisone in March. I have to say, this

news hurt me very much. However, this gives me hope. : )

Hi Theresa,

I trust someone else with more experience than I will comment on pregnancy

and IgAN. I just wanted to quickly pop in and say it's good to hear from

you. Congrats on both the remission and the pregnancy! We don't often get

such a double barrel of good news.

Hi Theresa!

Congratulations. We've heard of many successful pregnancies with IgAN.

Work very closely with your OBGYN and always remember that your body is a

vessel to be used to nurture a healthy baby. Follow your Doctors orders and

do all of the right things by educating yourself about your pregnancy, your

body and the development of your precious little gift. Let us know how

you're doing and what your Neph says as you progress through this pregnancy.

You might want to keep a journal. You may be able to use it to help others

later who will be asking the same questions you have now. Any preference

boy or girl?

Theresa,

Just wanted to say congratulations on your pregnancy. :o) It's also

good to hear of your good luck with prednisone...I'm in the process of being

tapered off of it and so far it has worked well for me too.

Congrats again,

Amy

My sister and I both were dx with breast cancer. I was dx in July 1995 and I'm doing fine.

I had a mastectomy and because of two positive node I also did AC treatment (Taxol was still in trial stages then). I did 3 1/2 years of tamoxifen before dr. took me off of it. My sister was dx. in April 1997. Note that my sister was a ultrasound tech. She went to dr. because she was having a burning sensation behind the nipple. Radiologist said that there was nothing wrong. Being in the med field she had it read by someone else. Same thing. She said that she had seen the films and something wasn't right. She went to 6 surgeons before someone agreed to biopsy her because of my bc history. He really didn't think it would be and was totally surprised when it was bc. When they were doing the mastectomy on my sister they decided to biopsy a place in her other breast that they had been watching for 2 years. Well I'm sure you've guess by now that it was cancer also. So she

had a second mastectomy 2 weeks later. She had 4 positive nodes so did chemo..can't remember what it was but I know that 5FU was part of the treatment. In 1998 my mother was dx with colon cancer (dr.'s believe there is a connection between our bc and mom and grandma's colon cancer) Donna had a

local recurrance in the scar tissue in 2000. At that time she had more surgery and then radiation. In April 2004 she was dx with liver mets. I've always thought she should have had radiation at the time of first dx. But we live in different areas (she is about 2 hours away) and she wasn't willing to think that her surgeon might be wrong in the way he directed her treatment. As I told nne earlier we were told a couple of weeks ago that about 90% of her liver is involved now and they are only giving her a couple of months. She is on adriamyicin again to hopefully shrink the tumors to ease pain. She will be 52 next month and this isn't the way life was suppose to be. Oh by the way when they found her liver mets they weren't even looking for it. They were doing a sonogram of her heart and it just happened to catch a corner of the liver.

One of my best friends also lost a sister to BC. My friend had about 15 positive nodes and she is doing great 16 years later. I have another friend that had 30 positive nodes and she is great 13 years later.

Thank heaven for your tech. Oh forgot to mention by BC was missed in a mammogram 18 months before it was dx. When my sister held up my old films to the kitchen window after my dx. she could see it easily. Now why couldn't the radiologist with there special lights.

I use to to be very mad about that but finally had to let it go. Gosh this has turned into

a book. Sorry.
