Guest guest Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 Hi : I didn't feel a lump, there was suspicion of a lump when I had my annual mammogram, but an ultrasound was needed to confirm. They said I have dense breast tissue which lowers the sensitivity of the mammography. I have to talked to a lot of women that said they also were told that they have dense breast tissue and receive ultrasounds in conjunction with their annual mammograms. Even now, knowing where the lump is I can't feel it and neither can my breast surgeon and oncologist. Jane from Pittsburgh The information included herein was obtained from sources which I believe reliable. monthly self-exams How many of you did monthly self exams and did not feel your lumps but then they showed up on a mammogram? This is what happened to me. Even after I learned about the lump I could not feel it. I worry that many women don't get mammograms because they don't feel anything. I'd like to know if I am a small percentage of the population of women who do self-exams but can't feel the lump.
