> My EP told me that it didn't cure Afib - but it could help. I have

absolutely no complaints. After an awful history of permanent Afib,

my Pacemaker and Dofetilide gave me my life back. I thank God for

both!

Ellen, what type of pacemaker do you have? I had no idea there were

so many until (?) posted about them. I always had the idea from

your posting that it was really dofetilide that came to your rescue,

is that wrong?

My Pacemaker is a Kappa DR701 Dual Chamber Pacemaker with two pacing leads, one

placed in the atrium, and the other in the ventricle. It monitors both atrial

and ventricular activity to see if pacing is needed. When pacing does occur,

the contraction of the atria is followed closely by a contraction in the

ventricles, resulting in timing that closely mimics the heart's natural way of

working. It's about the size of a half dollar, and I'm sure dern glad its

there! You can get more detailed information about Medtronic's Pacemakers on

their website:

If any of our members have a Pacemaker, we would encourage you to add your name

to our Pacemaker database; or if you are just interested in who and how many of

us have a Pacemaker, you can check it out.

Trudy: My original EP told me it didn't have anything to do with the Afib - but

since then a couple of doctors have said it helps. After four years, I just

don't question it - because I have never felt better......its been a great few

years. Even at the age of seventy-one (71), life is absolutely wonderful!
