Guest guest
Is anyone familiar with Ondansetron? I am taking the Folfiri treatment, and have quite a bit of nausea from the 46 hour bottle of 5FU. This last time, after throwing up four times, I finally took one Ondansetron 8 mg. It stopped the nausea and throwing up, but gave me the strangest type of headache. I thought it was almost worse than the nausea. I thought I had thrown my Ondansetron out, but I have rediscovered them now. I have three more. Perhaps they are worth trying again. I also take an antacid, and am going to double the dose at the recommendation of a pharmacist. Barry
Guest guest
I was told that it did cause a headache. When I did FOLFOX and maybe even now, the chemo guys hooked to an IV of it before starting the anti-cancer stuff. I also use it to control nausea after treatment as well, as it is the only stuff that really works for me. The doc told me to take some tylenol to get rid of the headache. I did that, but probably more importantly, you need to make sure that you dring at least 100 oz. of fluid during chemo days and 2-3 days thereafter. I usually try to wolf down 3 bottles of gatorade. That helps with headaches too - the liquids also do NOT seem to aggravate the nausea. Don't know if your treatment includes Avastin. If it does, blood pressure could be causing the headache as well. I am also on Ranitidine 150mg twice a day, and have been for two years started that on my first trip through chemo.
