Guest guest
I have just collected some melatonin for Francesca, nearly 7 years old, as she is tired during the day which I think is partly because she takes such a long time to fall asleep at night. However, I have just printed out some information from the Internet, to try and see whether it is keto friendly or not. Ingredients are: dicalcium phosphate, cellulose (plant origin), vegetable magnesium stearate, vegetable stearic acid, silica, croscarmellose. Does anyone know if this is OK? Probably, even more importantly though, it states NOT FOR USE BY CHILDREN 16 YEARS OF AGE OR YOUNGER. Is this because 3mg is too high a dose? Or is there any other reason. Help - I don't know whether to give it to her tonight or not now... , Mum to Francesca, Keto Kid since Sept
Guest guest
Hi , My son is on the same brand melatonin. His keto team OK'd it last week, and said to start at half a pill (1.5 mg), but we could go up to 3 mg or MORE. The only thing is we have to offset the carb with fat--1/8th tsp. of oil. As for it being too much, I'm not sure what your daughter weighs, but Nate's only 20 lbs, and it's not too much for him. The half pill works wonders getting him to fall asleep. Hope she (and you!) gets some much-needed rest soon. Guest guest
Thank you! I went for a half tablet, just in case and I can't believe how brilliantly it worked. She normally messes around, singing and talking to herself and kicking her duvet off for at least an hour. Tonight, her head hit the pillow and out... She did get up after a while though, because we just found her asleep on top of her sister's bed, so I don't know what that's all about. I'll be interested to see how she is in the morning, because we normally have to drag her out of bed! Thanks for the tip about giving a little bit of oil with the tablet. Her urine ketones were slightly lower than usual tonight, so it could be the tablet. But then, I didn't give her any coconut oil with her tea either, so who knows! No adverse seizure effects though.
