Perhaps you could afford that and avoid the driving? I would definitely call Dr. Natale's office and ask their fee for a consultation, and if they had any plans or suggestions about financial help. Also, I'd see if your GP, whom you feel comfortable with, can help with the nasty cardiologist problem. I just did a little calculation. 15 hours of driving times 30 mph average times 14 cents a mile (what the IRS says is a mileage expense the last I knew) is $63, so the costs would be comparable except you need a way to get from the airport to Dr. Natale's office.
