Guest guest
Anyone know what a *good* bhob level is in terms of seizure control...? Is there a 'therapeutic range...?'
Guest guest
I have been trying to find the saved paper I have from Hopkins on bhb levels and can't - anyway, the recommendation in there I think from memory is that a bhb of at least '4.0' is needed for seizure control - some need higher, some lower, usual story - no 'one size fits all'. We like 's bhb to be between 3.5 and 4.5, though our dietician gets a bit nervous when he goes above 4.0 due to some previous nasty experiences with high bhbs in hospital. However those times were when he was also pretty toxic on meds too, and it was the combination I think more than anything else that was not good for him back then. When he used to have waking bhbs of only 1.7 - 2.0 he used to have early am sleep seizures, now that he is usually at least 2.7 - 3.0 on awakening he doesn't - but whether this is just ketone related or not, I'm not sure. ----- Original Message ----- > Anyone know what a *good* bhob level is in terms of seizure control...?
