Guest guest
Hi Barb, I want to say I'm sorry to hear about Jake, but sorry isn't really the right word.....it might turn out to be a blessing that you've found this out. It might give you some more options for treatment and some new hope. I made this post a couple of weeks ago, and I've copied it for you below. I've checked the Woman's Day site this morning and can't find any info on it, and I've searched high and low for my April 8th issue (I was going to mail it to you), and can't find it. I've been in a cleaning out mood lately and have trashed it I'm sure. I'll check our library, etc. to see if I can get my hands on the article for you. It probably won't give you any new medical information, but it was a nice story. It mentioned a couple of doctors as well. My very best wishes to all of you. I'll keep working on getting the article for you. Take care, Glenna Hello all, I was doing some indulgence reading this afternoon...my Woman's Day magazine. The current issue (April 15th issue) has a very interesting article on mitochondrial diseases, " What's Wrong With My Little Boy " . It mentions seizures as one of the many ways these disorders wreak their havoc. The little boy (now 13) featured in the story finally got diagnosed, and according to the article his specialist ordered a special vitamin cocktail for him (doesn't mention which ones). It also mentions the use of CoQ10 and carnitine. I checked the Woman's Day website, and they only have information currently online about the April 1st issue. I'll keep checking and post the link if they feature the article online. They did give a website for the Mitochondrial Disease Foundation....www.umdf.org. I know some of us have discussed some of these mitochondrial issues before...thought this might be of interest to you. Glenna
