Zanna--crochet

Zanna,

My mom crocheted a lot; my grammie did both knitting and crocheting. She even

did 3-D crocheting

like a doily with bunches of grapes around the edges. She made us all knitted

mittens. I have lots

of doilies, 2 shawls, 2 tablecloths, and chair backs/arm covers that she

crocheted. She's been gone

since 1979 and I miss her daily--especially no one to play Scrabble with!! My

cousin in Maine has a

crocheted coverlet that she uses on her dark colored bedspread.

I have some doilies that a lady from Mexico crocheted for me and sent up here

with her husband one

year when he came back to work. Many years ago her husband's brother worked for

us for 2 years

right after my husband's brother and farming partner was killed in an

electrocution accident which

Jim witnessed and was right next to him but not touching the aluminum gated

irrigation pipe he was

touching. Anyway, the Mexican fellow just appeared in our yard--named

---our angel .

He was such a wonderful worker and even climbed the 40' silo to rescue this

silly kitten who went up

there chasing birds I guess. Anyway (again), 's brother comes up

each summer to work

at a nearby dairy and one year his wife sent up a whole set of crocheted items

for me.

My sister also crochets and knits and oil/water paints and draws. I believe

that among us 3

siblings she took everything--good health and talent. Age 76 almost and has

hardly a pain and

doesn't take a pill. Can't even convince her to take vitamins or calcium. This

is the sister, my

only sister, that I'm going to visit in Maine.

You are such a talented lady and a real " homemaker " or is it " domestic

engineer " ?
