Hi ,

Please don't take this the wrong way... but I wanted to post for the

sake of reassurance.

Last spring we added a 5 year old rottweiler to our household. He was

put on SCD right away because the previous owners didn't bring in any

of the dog food he was currently eating and we don't have 'dog food'

in our house. Well, even though we didn't feed him the first day...

he *stank*! Then, it really got worse before it got better. Have

your ever read the book, " Walter the Farting Dog " ? (Your kids will

love it.) Well, that story could've been about our .

It came to a point where his gas didn't smell at all, I think about 8

weeks - but that's a guess. This was a great relief because he sleeps

on the floor beside my bed! :o

I decided to do a bit of an experiment and feed him some rice after

that... well, the smell and the amount of gas was *horrible*... and he

was bloated and not feeling good at all. So, apparently this diet may

apply to animals as well as humans. His quality of life is *much*

better now (and so is ours)!

Anyway, I guess I just wanted you to know that we found it does

'pass'. Bwaahahaha... sorry... :/

I never did find anything that could speed up the process though. I'd

love to hear if the charcoal works.

My husband had some of this issue too, when first on the diet and then

when we started to add some complex sugars back in, but we pulled back

on the complex sugars again and he does not have this issue any longer

any longer.
