Guest guest
Hi everyone...My son started the diet in Oct. He was diagnosed with infantile spasms at 7 mos. old and we went through the round of ACTH and then 4 meds. before starting the diet. I wish we had learned about it sooner. We go to Strong Hospital in Rochester, NY...they re great there! He stopped having seizures after 3 1/2 weeks on the diet. He is still on one med. - klonopin - does anyone have any experience with that? We've taken him off Keppra, Topomax and Depakote and have seen such a difference in his personality. Our Dr. wants to take him off the klonopin slowly and I was wondering if anyone has had their child come off it. This is a great group. I just joined on Friday and have learned so much already by reading everyone's messages. - mom of , 2 yrs. old...ketokid since Oct. Guest guest
Congrats. We started the diet on depakote, dilantin and klonopin, and we dropped klonopin first. As far as most are concerned, it's considered addictive and hard to wean. Just go slowly and ride it out. The longer he's been on it the harder it might be. But....we had very few if any problems getting rid of it. Sounds like you are off to a good start, great news.
