Guest guest
I do not agree, nor have I ever agreed about leaving out red meat and eggs. I still stand by that. Red meat is the only source of the type of high quality iron that is easily absorbed by the body, other forms simply are not absorbed that well. Also, red meat is an excellent source of B12, which is one of the nutrients that I used to have a problem with, if only because of undertreatment with the thyroid hormones. I have never yet had an iron deficiency problem, through all of this, though I have had a folic acid deficiency, when still undertreated. There are other forms of iron in things like beans, etc....but none of them is absorbed like this form of iron. Those who don't eat red meat always need an iron supplement, if their labs show anemia or close to it. Yes, it has saturated fat, but all things in moderation. I still eat one serving of red meat once a day in order to feel good. If I don't, I don't feel good at all, after a couple of days without it. I also have low cholesterols, always, higher in the good ones, lower in the bad ones, with normal to low triclycerides.
