Right on, Ellen!! You should be proud of yourself! It's one thing when

a parent advocates for a child, but for the consumer him/herself to

take the time to put their wants and needs to paper, that's another

thing and should be taken quite seriously. Great job!!

maby if more of us advocate for ourselves we can make changes in the system.

So people dont think that just cause we can speak for ourselves that we dont

need help too. Way to go Ellen :)

Ellen-

Even if your letter doesn't get results this time, your efforts are still

wonderful!! We have to keep speaking up for ourselves and our loved ones --

over and over again. You've done a good job on your end. If the receiver's

don't do a good job on their end, well, that's out of your control. So high

fives, pats on the back, and huge squishy hugs to you!!

Yes, yes, yes!!!! I wonder if there isn't some prejudice that goes into

this too and that needs to be changed. When a parent advocates, do people

listen because that parent is seen as valued? When the person themselves

advocate, do others devalue them and not listen? People need to learn that

you have value, that you know what you need, and that they'd better listen!!

I am proud of you ellen. Writing letters is an excellent way to fight back, and

I think it will carry a lot of weight coming from you (as opposed to someone

writing it for you). Best of luck!
