As I recall she had heart surgery this week, right? I'm assuming she passed away from surgery complications? So scary when they must face such serious surgeries and we all know the possibility of death, but you never think it will actually happen. I am terribly, terribly sorry and empathize with you fullheartedly. I remember Max's ICU doc once said to me (when we were reviewing the discouraging mortality stats on CHARGE) kindly and simply " Amy, sometimes we don't know why but some babies despite having the finest medical care available simply will not make it. Their bodies are just not designed for long term survival. We don't have all the answers. " I remember feeling so much more calm after that...not that it makes it all better, but sometimes we just have to let go of the questions and accept that for whatever reason our babies were made different and we will never know the what, why, when, who.
