I also had cramps early in my pregnancy - in fact, practically

throughout my pregnancy, certainly from the beginning until almost

the 3rd trimester. My cramping was quite bad at times (although

never debilitating like my regular cramps), and often when into my

thighs. My menstrual cramp history is similar to yours (i.e.

terrible) and I am SU. When I posted a similar question to yours

about my cramps last November (when I found out I was pregnant)

several women posted that they too had cramps off and on, many women

throughout their first trimester at least. You might want to read

the posts from November 2003 for more info.

If I remember correctly the advice was that this is not uncommon,

but certainly worth seeing a doctor about if the cramping is

accompanied by any spotting or gets suddenly worse, etc. It may be

worth giving your midwife or ob's office a call just to reassure

yourself and get her/his opinion.

In my case the cramps just seemed to be normal for me and that

pregnancy (maybe because I suffer from cramps so badly normally?? -

I'm not sure), as I said they continued on and off almost throughout

the pregnancy - and I had a healthy baby girl eight weeks ago.

Thanks! I've decided to wait to see my Dr. until my appointments. I

figured these cramps were probably normal stuff and they seem to come

and go - they don't last for very long and I haven't had any bleeding.

I went back to the posts last November and found some interesting

ones - a lot of inspiration as a few in this group were pregnant at

the time and now have healthy babies! But I didn't find your post on

cramping. But that's ok.

Thanks for the input. I feel re-assured now that everything is fine.

Actually I have been feeling better lately too as I have been trying

to eat more often - that seems to keep the cramps away.

It's funny - I was looking forward to being pregnant to be rid of

menstrual cramps! ha ha. Looks like there are a lot more discomforts

with pregnancy than with just having your period.
