Guest guest Posted April 2, 2006 Report Posted April 2, 2006 Hi -- I don't have any answers, but your post raised a few questions for me. My charger, Eddie (6), started Prevacid about 6 weeks ago. Worked great for the first few weeks, but now he's back to spitting up a little bit at a time, continuing for more than an hour, after most meals. (That started the day after Christmas. His endoscopy showed inflammation in his stomach, esophagus was fine. Eddie eats orally, thick purees.) I didn't know about the iron issue, and Aloe Vera has me intrigued. I didn't know it could be taken internally. I'm going to the GI on Tuesday and will ask her. If she looks at me like I'm a nut, I'll call my chriopractor/nutritionist. Joanne Quote

Guest guest Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 , I have a question for you about the G-tube. Sounds like is older and is this his first tube feed placement? I have a daughter who is 20 months old and is fed by mouth, but we think it might be helpful to get her a tube. Can you explain why you got one for ? Also, did he get a fundoplication as well? Thanks for your story, , mom to Carmen 20 months (CHARGE) and Zachary 4.5 years. > > Hi all, > > My got his Gtube placed in February and is doing great. 4 pounds of > baby fat just flew right on! Guest guest Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 I've given Aloe Vera Juice in her g-tube with no problems. Lori Myers Spouse - Trent, Children - (8), (5, CHARGE Syndrome, Congenital Heart Defects/TOF Pulmonary Atresia/repaired, ECMO 12 days, Bi-lateral Choanal Atresia, Decanullated Trach, G-button, partial hearing loss, walking as of 12/22/04!, and Emma (3) Dallas, Texas Aloe Vera Juice in G-tube? Hi all, My got his Gtube placed in February and is doing great. 4 pounds of baby fat just flew right on! We're also finally back to where he is eating food also. When the tube was placed, the GI's did an endoscopy and biopsy of his tissues and said he had inflammation all the way through the tract. has never had any symptoms fo reflux or even acted like he had any pain, so I was suprised at this. The doc's put him on prevacid, which really has not gone so well. It's pretty much the strongest thing they could give him, I'm not sure why they didn't start with xantac or something milder. The prevacid just runs right through him and he had a terrible bleeding diaper rash until I stopped giving it to him. Also, he's anemic and prevacid severely reduces capacity to absorb iron, which requires stomach acid. He's happier and eats better while not taking it, so I made an executive decision! However, I can't seem to get any GI's on the phone to ask about a different medication. I know aloe vera juice works for acid/reflux stuff, but has anyone ever put it in a g-tube?
