Carol:

Thanks so much for posting to me.

The prolong use of predisone certainly

does make the blood sugar go up -especially

when the asthma kicks in for whatever the

reason - and increased doses of predisone,

or steroids for the asthma, etc.

I am on a sliding scale right now. For instance,

if my blood sugar before a meal - is i.e. 232

I will use the needle and take 4 units of insulin

Humulin R.

Most of the time I do not need it. The other day

I received an epideural of corftisone plus other

medications I guess - in the spine area - and oh

my I have had very high blood sugars. The doctor

should have discussed that with me - he is a pain

mgt physician - it was on my chart - that I was

a diabetic!!

Thanks for the suggestion concerning the

chromium - I am coming down once again!!

from the higher dosages of predisone. I am

now on 5 mg. finally - hopefully I can stay

there - chromium picolate - might help with

maintenance.

Thanks.

Good to be back in the group. Hello to Ute,

thanks for the post, and Liz G - and Mark Chris

and so many others - Thanks

Martha
