Hi :

I deeply feel the pain that you are going through. It is never, ever

easy to see anyone that we love suffer or hurt. We want to make it

all go away and yet, are powerless to do so, and that's what it most

frustrating. In addition to having my husband have colon cancer

stage III, my mother was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer two

years ago. It has been quite a battle for her and it breaks my heart

to watch her, but she is strong and willing to fight and I must

admit, putting up a pretty darn good one.

I know it's difficult to remain strong, especially when you are only

21 years old and life is just beginning. But whatever age, it's

never easy and there are many people on this board who share your

pain. I too am an only child whose father died 13 years ago so I

also am very, very close with my mother. She just turned 70 and a

very young 70, which makes it all the harder, at least for me. My

only advise to you is that you've taken the first step towards

helping yourself thus enabling you to better help your mother by

coming to this board. It's a great place to share your feelings,

vent, become more knowledgeable, and just kind of let it all hang

out. Take care of yourself because if you don't you won't be able to

help your mother and she will have to deal with worrying about you

too when right now she needs to concentrate every fiber of her being

on fighting this damn demon. She is lucky to have such a caring

daughter and I know, first hand, that that in its own way brings her

much comfort. Stay as strong as you can and when you feel like you

are going to loose it, take a long walk or come to this board.

There'll always be someone here to listen.

Big hugs,

Monika
