Guest guest
Write him immediately! A CI has a risk of meningitis that can be life threatening if not treated properly! You need to make sure that the antibiotic is the correct one. I personally would have already been in the ER Post surgery infection > Hi everyone. > > I am looking for some suggestions or input. Guest guest
Yes, we thought of the ER but the problem is that we live in rural MN and I know from experience that if we go into the ER they are not going to follow up like they should. They just don't know enough about this stuff to really help out. Of course our other option would be to drive the the Twin Cities and take her to an ER there and yet I am not sure whether this is where I am at yet. Yes trust me I knw about the risk of meningitis. Understand that this was a major concern of ours since she did have meningitis when she was 2 1/2 months old and that is where the hearing loss came from. Don't think that I am taking this lightly because that is truely not the case. If she wasn't acting about normal right now I would have been on the road right now. And the email is going to him now. Guest guest
--I would see if you can have the ENT on call arrange to look at her at the implant center (Fairview University?). My daughter, who was implanted at the U of M, had some similar irritation on her incision, but it turned out to be abcesses around some stitches that were not dissolving well, and it eventually all cleared up. But best to be safe than sorry... We live in the Twin Cities, so if you need any help, please let me know.
