Guest guest
I found this Norma....... I don't remember ever reading that we should do 3 days of NO CARB. hmmmmm...... The Lowcarb Retreat's Modified Rules of Induction Modifications derived by combining original Atkins' Diet with The New Diet Revolution. Essentially zero carbohydrates may be necessary for some metabolically resistant heavyweights like myself to get into ketosis. taken from the original located at http://www.titanic.kn-bremen.de/induction.html which is itself taken from Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. Go get a copy of the books mentioned in " Before Starting " . This page is only a rough sketch of the plan. During the first three days, the plan consists of " essentially " zero grams of carbohydrate. This should get most people safely into ketosis-lipolysis On the fourth day your plan consists of no more than 20 grams of carbohydrate. This allows for approximately 2 cups of salad greens or vegetables (LOOSELY packed) or 1 cup of salad plus 2/3 cup of cooked vegetables from the below 10% carbohydrate category. When hungry, eat the amount, that makes you feel satisfied but not stuffed. When not hungry, eat nothing or just a small zero carb snack. If a food is not listed on the plan, have absolutely none of it. " Just one taste " is a prelude to failure. The plan consists of pure proteins, pure fats (this means butter, olive oil and mayonnaise are permitted), and combinations of protein and fat (this is the mainstay of your diet). Foods with excessive carbohydrates are not on this plan. Using a carbohydrate gram counter, one could find other combinations totaling less than 20 grams of carbohydrate. One would be using foods like nuts, seeds, olives, avocados, cheeses, cream and sour cream, lemon and lime juices, and low carbohydrate diet foods. Don't assume any food item is low in carbohydrate. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Free Foods...there are no free foods, count those carbohydrates ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Meat Fish Fowl Shellfish Eggs Cheese Beef Tuna Chicken Oysters Scrambled Aged and fresh Pork Salmon Turkey Mussels Fried Cow and goat Lamb Sole Duck Clams Poached Cream cheese Bacon Trout Goose Squid Soft boiled Cottage cheese Veal Flounder Cornish Hen Shrimp Hard boiled Swiss Ham Sardines Quail Lobster Deviled Cheddar Venison Herring Pheasant Crabmeat Omelets Mozzarella in fact, all meat in fact, all fish in fact, all fowl in fact, all shellfish in fact, all eggs in fact, almost* all cheeses ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- 10% Carbohydrate or Less ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Salad Vegetables Salad Herbs Vegetables in Addition Salad Garnishes Spices Beverages Alfalfa Sprouts Basil Artichoke Anchovies all spices to taste Water Arugula Cilantro Asparagus Crumbled Crisp Bacon Mineral Water Bok Choy Dill Avocado Grated Cheese Essence flavored Seltzer Boston Lettuce Oregano Bamboo Shoots Minced hb Eggs Decaf Coffee/Tea Celery Rosemary Bean Sprouts Sauteed mushrooms Diet Soda Chicory Thyme Beet Greens Sour Cream Iced Tea Chives Broccoli Cream Cucumber Brussel Sprouts Spring Water Endive Cabbage Club Soda Escarole Cauliflower Herb Tea Fennel Celery Root Clear Broth Jicama Chard Mache Christophene Morels Collard Creens Mushrooms Dandelion Greens Olives Eggplant Parsley Hearts of Palm Peppers Kale Posse Pied Kohlrabi Radiccio Leeks Radishes Okra Romaine Onion Sorrel Pumpkin Rhubarb Sauerkraut Scallions Snow Pea Pods Spagheti Squash Spinach String or Wax Beans Summer Squash Tomato Turnips Water Chestnuts Zucchini ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Common Mistakes to avoid Note, that the 14-day plan contains no fruit, no bread, no grains, no starchy vegetables, no cream cheese, in fact NO DAIRY products other than 4 ozs daily of HARD aged cheese, 4 TBS heavy cream and some butter. Avoid diet products unless they specifically state " no carbohydrates " . Most dietetic foods are for fat-restricted, not carbohydrate-restricted diets. The word " sugarless " is not sufficient. The products must state the carbohydrate content, and that's what you go by. No mistakes! A single stick of chewing gum or milk in your coffee could put you back on level one for 3 days of essentially zero carbohydrates by upsetting the new chemical balance in your body. Don't deliberately turn off your fat mobilizing hormone with indiscretions.
Guest guest
I did not read that either Dianne about 0 carb and I have been over that book so many times the letters should be worn off. I printed that article about induction that Joya gave me when I first started and read it last night. I can not give up the coffee. I need to substitute it still fo r that other bad habit I used to have. I am not having AS and creamer though. Thanks for the article. It all helps. soon I will get to use my keto sticks , a first for me.

Guest guest
Probably...that came about because of the shock I had...my birthday (47) I decide to treat myself to a day of shopping...could not find anything to fit me in my size....nor the next size....visited my hairdresser who had lost 18 pounds doing that fad diet Atkins....and the next day I started. Three months later I had lost 26+ pounds and was the skinniest I had been in YEARS. So aggravating that I can't do it again!!! I got older and less vain????? I don't know! Guest guest
I think the biggest problem with getting leaner is making it a lifestyle change. And letting go of the old ways of eating. They got us into trouble before and if we continue with them, they'll get us into trouble again!!! The whole process of eating takes such conscious involvement (to change) that I think we sometimes get sick & tired of it. Jane > > So aggravating that I can't do it again!!! Guest guest
I know what u mean, first time I did induction (did it with the 20 carbs) while I did not get this bad, I had been doing low fat for a bit previously but had been exercising, so of course I could not get through my aerobics tapes and had to walk real slow wherever I went had no energy, took about 5 weeks for me to get back to normal...induction has never been so bad since then, perhaps cause one knows what to expect after that. It is true...that is how I did it the first time (1997) as the only book in Honduras was the first one...so if you didn't know better....you did it!!!! It was not hard because I was determined...but I can't do it anymore (((((((((((((( I did have to lay down on the kitchen floor the third day...and could not get up ....total spaghetti in the muscles exhaustion (lack of potassium)...but I was faithful for 5 weeks till I got his new book and added lettuce!
