Guest guest
Although 200mg of Amiod. daily seems to have helped me a great deal in the past month by keeping me calmer and in ..........., I am scared of the side effects and I would like to know whether I have to wean myself off it or I can go the " cold turkey " way? I am unable to do objective research right now and would like to have some info pre-digested from those more savvy than I am. Thanks in advance Isabelle

My understanding is that the long half life will naturally introduce a gradual wean - it may be quite some time before it stops being active. (There are quite a few meds you can't start straight after coming off of amiodarone because of its lingering effects). This may only be true if you've been on it long enough for it to pervade your system and the rules may well be different for short term use - I'm not a pharmacist I think it's wise to let your Doc know your intentions so you can decide on an alternative approach and a professional can confirm any nonsense you get from the internet Hope this helps - even though you shouldn't believe a word of it. -- D
