Guest guest
Six months following a successful RF ablation, I have been taken off Sotalol prior to a 24hour Holter test in two weeks time. Have any readers experienced any effects when stopping this drug? I remain on warfarin for a while at least. Bob
Guest guest
Hi Bob I was " on " sotalol for 2 months following a PVA Feb 13th of this year. My BP & HR immediately shot up 20 points above my " normal " after discontinuing the sotalol. Conversely, when I started the drug, it dropped my BP & HR 20 points BELOW my normal ranges. I spoke to Minerva at the Cleveland Clinic & she referred to the jump in HR & BP as " sotalol bounce " . I don't know if that's a medical term, but it certainly accurately described my experience ! It's been over a month since I've taken any sotalol & my BP is improving, but my HR is still in the high 90's, although I'm starting to get a few readings in the high 80's. Cleveland told me it could be up to a year post PVA till this straightens itself out. My good news for the day is Cleveland has OK'ed discontinuing coumadin, even though my follow-up is a ways off. I've been sending in a EKG strip once a week & no AF has been noted since the PVA. It was one of my goals in having the procedure done, so it was good news for me !
