enzymes...which one should we use?

My 3 yr old son has PDD and he has been gfcfsf for a little over a

year....scd for about 6 months--still casein free. He continues to

have chronic diarrhea. We are trying to figure out which enzymes

would be best to try. On the enzymestuff website it suggest Ultra-

zyme plus and the Digest Gold. Do you think these would be the best

to start with?? One of them? Both of them?

(Am I right in thinking that he doesn't need peptizyde since he is on

the scd without casein?)

You can also consider the Houston ones because this was likely

written before Elaine okayed all the Houston enzymes and before

Houston made the SCD ones (but now they are all okayed by Elaine). I

will need to change that on the enzymestuff.com site.

But the others are okay too. It is just the Houston ones were

specifically developed with the autism issues in mind. I would

choose one of the broadspectrum enzymes: Digest Gold, Ultra-zyme

Plus or Zyme Prime and start that first. Then after a week if all

goes well, add in Peptizyde. The reason is that even if you are

dairy/casein free, the Peptizyde STILL brings more improvement in

almost every case. It can catch proteins other than casein and

gluten - similar ones from other foods or created internally - and

proteases in general do extra healing work.

A good baseline is to give a broadspectrum and a protease at meals,

with extra proteases between meals. Sometimes the strong proteases

aren't well tolerated in the very beginning because the gut cleaning

out and pathogen die-off is too severe. So starting really low-n-

slow works well. And doing the broadspectrum first helps get things

rolling. Then add in the protease separately and increase as you can.

Peptizyde has an outstanding record in autism and works on several

different levels.

If your child has problems with phenols or salicylates (or a latex

allergy) use the AFP. Otherwise the regular is fine. If you aren't

sure, you can try the one first (get 1 bottle), and then try 1 of

the other type to compare. Then just go with whatever works best.
