Guest guest
Several people on this list inquired about TMG and alternatives for sleep problems. I found this email to a patient in my files: Nice to hear from you--I don't mind outlining why you are taking TMG and 5HTP as I can keep this on file for other inquiries. There were quite a few reasons I advised you to take TMG, one being memory, others being cardiovascular support and liver function. The 5-HTP is primarily for use if you have difficulty sleeping. As I recall, blotting out transient light greatly improved your sleep when you last talked about it. TMG (Trimethylglycine) TMG, in combination with Vitamin B6, Folic Acid and Vitamin B12, creates SAM, which has been used and researched in Europe and the US for its effectiveness in treatment of depression, liver function, osteoarthritis, and fibromyalgia. For you the benefit in this area is that it also improves memory, which is connected to the chemistry of depression. Also, some peripheral neuropathy originates in liver dysfunction. Discovered in 1952, there is an extensive body of scientific study on SAM-e, which is produced naturally from ATP and methionine, which is found in protein-rich foods and has properties that affect mood and mental functions. SAM-e's major role in the body is to release an essential substance, called a methyl group, which fuels dozes of biochemical reactions and accounts for SAM-e's wide range of benefits. MORE IMPORTANTLY the TMG is turned into DMG (dimethylglycine) while the B6, Folic Acid and B12 convert homocysteine into beneficial amino acid products. Lower Homocysteine levels = cardiovascular health. Taking this combination of nutrients produces SAM and DMG naturally at a fraction of the cost of the commercially available pharmaceuticals. " The data is extremely extensive on arthritis. It reduces pain, doesn't cause gastro intestinal bleeding and it regenerates cartilage, although it takes several months to see this effect. " Dr. Brown, Psychiatry Professor at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. (He was contrasting this with normal treatments which cause all those side-effects. I thought this element beneficial for you because you have had joints that did not move fully and this can result in irritation of the joints, which results in arthritis-like symptoms.) 5-HTP is a natural precursor for the neurotransmitter serotonin and has been shown to have no side effects in clinical trials in the US. New information I have gotten indicates that it may stay more effective if you only use it when you are having trouble sleeping, although the prescribed use is to keep a level of it by taking it daily. The bottle--in achingly tiny print--suggests a single spray before bedtime. You spray beneath your tongue and hold it for 20 seconds before swallowing. Shake gently--the bottle, not you! felicidades, Felicia Noelle www.backrescue.com Everything you need to know about your back pain (but your doctor was too busy to explain!) Guest guest
> Dear Felicia, > Where would one get the TMG and the 5-HTP? How much TMG would be > advisable to take? I have been reading that 3 grams of B3 and 250mg of B6 > plus zinc sulfate > 220mg helps a lot of people with arthritis. Would the TMG go along with > that, and how much B12 would be taken? > Thanks,Gloria Hi Gloria, I listed the link to order TMG and Enada: www.immunesupport.com That TMG already has the necessary B vitamins to make the TMG work, but I also take extra. I take Bcomplex 100 mgs and 3 grams of sublingual B12. 5HTP is at health food stores. felicidades, Felicia > >
