Hi, Has anyone in this group ever been on Plaqueinl? I have Hashimotos

Thyroiditis which is an auto immune thyroid disease. They now want to

start me on Plaqueinl along with my thyroid medication. I am

hypothyroid. I had several blood tests to see if I had any other auto

immune disorder and so far I don't, but they say the Hashimotos can

progress to other auto immune disorders like Lupus etc. Plaqueinl is

actually a malaria medication, but is supposed to stop the progression

of the auto immune disorder. I hope none of these meds affect my AF.

I have had a rash for 9 months now from ,they think, the Hashamotos.

I was on Levoxel 25mcg a month ago for 7 days and had AF once and

developed a different itchy rash so I stopped taking it. I was sent to

a rheumatologist for other tests. He put me on Synthroid and I have had

no problems with it except I have had AF 2 times now since being on it.

They don't think that is the cause. I am allergic to milk and Synthroid

has Lactose in it so I was very scared to take it. They did not think

it was enough in it to cause an allergic reaction. So far so good no

rash and I think the thyroid medication is helping my other rash. I

think I feel better, but have only been on it for a short time. When I

had my blood tests my TSH was 9.8 and I had a thyroid anti body test

which was supposed to be below 5 and was 395. Wooooo! Please let me

know if anyone has taken Plaquenil. At this time I am not on a blood

thinner or any other antiarrythmics only 1 baby Aspirin a day.

Thanks

Peggy

Peggy - I don't know about the plaqueinl, but if you can't tolerate the

synthroid, as for Armour Thyroid... it's basically pig thyroid, if I recall, and

I doubt has any lactose in it! I was on that before being switched to synthroid

and liked them both just fine.

Also, hypothyroidism can cause irregularly heart beat just as hyperthyroidism

can, and if you're hypo, you've probably got other symptoms (weight gain,

brittle hair, thirst, dry skin, joint pain, poor sleep, constipation,

infertility... etc..) which finding the right dose may " cure. "

I never knew how lousy I felt until I went on just .125 mcg of synthroid! :)

good luck!
