Guest guest
Has anyone here with a septate uterus go undetected for years? What about problems with menstruation and/or giving birth? What were the circumstances when/how you found out you had a septate uterus? Thanks everyone, Becky
Guest guest
Hi Becky - Well, it's a 50/50 for me whether I have a septate or a bicornuate uterus. I was totally clueless about this until this summer when I had a D and C. It's frustrating because I had a surgery at 5 years old to correct a double urethra. I also had a son 10 years ago and he had club feet and dislocated hips and knees. Even with those two situations the Dr's never discovered a problem (nor did they look for one). The reproductive specialist says that my son's birth defects are not likely related to my condition. I carried him full term but did have severe bleeding in my first trimester. I was even told I miscarried but found out a week later I had not. When he was born he came out head first but he was in a complete V shape. His legs were turned up and his feet were by his hands. He literally came out foot, hand, head, hand, foot. Weird, I know. With my pregnancy this summer I started bleeding in my 8th week only to find out I had a missed miscarriage almost 2 weeks earlier. I'm having some tests done to determine exactly which condition I have. I should know this month and will also find out if they will do anything to correct the issue. My periods were always very mild. (little bleeding and no cramps) Of course that was when I was on BC pills. Since my D and C my periods have changed drastically. Very heavy and cramps. That is my experience with what MAY be a septate uterus. Hope it helps. > Has anyone here with a septate uterus go undetected for years? What > about problems with menstruation and/or giving birth? Guest guest
Becky You are not alone!!! I have just found out I have the " combo platter " and go in for resection in a month. Anyways my daughter was breech and very scrunched she also has some issues that may or may not be related. My son came at 30 weeks gest and spent the first 7 weeks/49days in the NICU and came home on oxegen. I also wonder how my first dr could miss my misshapen uterus when he preformed the csection with my daughter. Its crazy and I wish you luck. Remember that you did the best you could with the knowledge that you had. There's no sense in asking what if, it'll just drive you crazy. I hope it helps to know you're not alone. Keep us posted! dd 8/14/01 ds 5/6/03 resection scheduled for 12/28/04 > > Has anyone here with a septate uterus go undetected for years? What > about problems with menstruation and/or giving birth? Thanks > everyone, Becky Becky, I went 24 years before finding out about my septate uterus. I didn't find out until I was 12 weeks pregnant with my first (and only) pregnancy. I started having spotting and had an early ultrasound at 6 weeks which showed I had a pelvic kidney, so they referred me to a perinatologist. At the peri's office at 12 weeks they saw that my uterus was heart shaped. I lost the baby at 14 weeks after a subchorionic tear. I recently had a lap/hyst that showed I was septate and I had the septum removed. , 25, SU resected
