Your doctor should be willing and able to arrange to have your records and slides sent wherever you decide, and also should know how to go about it. Many of us feel shy about asking for a second opinion, and the attitude of many doctors doesn't help; they often behave (however subtly) as if we are insulting them and/or doing ourselves an injustice by seeking advice elsewhere. However, it is not only our right, I think it is our obligation as informed patients, to learn as much as we can, and to seek many opinions when there is even a slight doubt. My FNA results were inconclusive, and I had a second opinion before surgery. I went for the consultation, but my slides were sent by the hospital to the doctor's office. If you want to go for the appointment, we have members at almost all (if not all) of the major centers, who I'm sure can refer doctors' names. If you want to do some of the legwork yourself before asking your doctors to proceed, you can contact the centers and ask what their procedure is for having radiology second opinions done.
