Guest guest
This post is for those adults here who use Cow's Milk yogurt and find it problematic. The more fat, the less lactose. In my case I just found the whipped cream version Elaine suggested too rich and half and half the perfect compromise: " Once upon a time their was a puzzled women named Silverlocks who required lactose free yogurt for her diet. The Cow's Milk Yogurt she had used for years turned on her one day when she went for a walk in the woods. When Silverlocks returned she saw three bowls of chilled yogurt in the kitchen. The first bowl had a picture of a nanny goat on the side. She tasted it. " Yuck, this stuff tastes too tart, " she said, wrinkling up her already wrinkled nose. " No wonder a few grownups don't like it. " She approached the second bowl which had a picture of a turret of whipped cream and a cherry on top. " This is very smooth and creamy but too bland, " exclaimed Silverlocks. " And it's loaded with fat like 35.8% fat. I'll have a flat tummy and a big backside in no time! " Discouraged and wary she picked up the third bowl which had two silhouettes engraved on the bowl with the caption " Half and Half. " Silverlocks drew the spoon to her lips. The texture was creamy but with more body and slightly sweet. She smacked her lips after the first spoonful and waited. This was followed by only the slightest sniffle, and the tiniest tickle in her digestive tract, but barely noticeable. Before she knew it she had added a little honey and had finished the whole thing. It went down like silk. There was no swelling, rash or headache. Soon Silverlocks grew drowsy. She added " Half and Half " to her grocery list and ambled off to bed to dream of friendly bacteria. " Carol F. --------- Toronto , Celiac SCD 4 years There is no substitute for the right food! Thought she had outwitted a cranky immune system. Thought wrong. Wow, Ow, Bye bye brown cow! Let's do nut yogurt now. Moral: Older ladies should leave children's stories alone and probably animal yogurt too for a while. Don't let this discourage you. I have a lot of sensitivities. Carol F.
