Guest guest
Hello everyone as you can guess I am new and I just wanted to post an intro. Just from what I have read so far this is a great group full of good info which is hard to come by from any other source. My name is and I'm 35 years old and living in Australia. I'm married with one child a boy who is 3 years old. I had PROM at 24.4 weeks in Oct 2004. Labour couldn't be stopped and I delivered my baby girl via emergency c-section. She had suffered a lot of fetal distress and died a few hours after she was born. During the c-section the dr found that I have a septum. This was the first that any of us knew about it. My son was born at 36.4 weeks healthy and without any problems. My pregnancy went well apart from getting gestational diabetes. I knew that I may go into pre term labour again but didn't think it would be that early. I am going in for an HSG on Dec 30th to get a proper diagnosis so that we can determine what sort of care I will need for subsequent pregnancies. There has been no discussion on any surgery to resect the septum at all which I am happy with at the moment. My husband and I would love to be TTC again right now but due to having had a classical ceaser we have been told to wait for a year. We are not happy to wait that long due to my age and the fact that I also have endometriosis which was discovered when we were about to try for our 2nd child. We will wait for 6 months as it took 7 months and 12 months to get pregnant before and I'm fairly sure that the next time we will be looking at at least a few months of trying which will take us closer to the 12 months. My husband and I are both doing well depite the loss of our baby. We have been very lucky to have had so much support. Some days are still hard but I am more the sort of person to look to the future rather than dwell in the past. Anyway I'm sure that I will have lots of questions after my HSG. Guest guest
Hi - Welcome to the board. I am sorry you have discovered the need for it, but you will find support and good info. here, I am sure. I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter. Many women here, including myself, have had losses as well. I lost my son in July at 37 weeks--perhaps due to a blood clot in his cord, perhaps partially attributable to my large septum (while pregnant, I was diagnosed as bicornuate, but after my loss we found out I had a large septum). I had my septum resected November 15th (not major surgery) and it was the best choice for me, knowing that I have done all that I can to ensure a better outcome in the future. But it is different for everyone. People have had such a range of experiences and there is no general rule or typical outcome, although many people say that people with septums have a high miscarriage rate (could you have taken a long time to become pregnant because of your septum-- it can be hard for an embryo to implant on a septum due to decreased blood flow)? One of many good questions to ask your doctors. I highly recommend getting as full and as varied assessments of your situation as possible, as uterine anomalies can be misdiagnosed and different docs may say different things (re diagnosis and treatment). It helped me to get various opinions, combined with the thoughtful and sage advice of the great women here---to come up with a picture I felt confident about--and then to move forward with decision making. My age is also a factor--I am 36 and have no living children yet. , I wish you good luck on this journey as you move ahead---- I am happy to answer anything I can--- I am not as expert as some here, but I have seen many specialists and had many different tests, as well as having gone through the resection surgery. Ask away--you will get tons of great answers, helpful questions and plain old good support.
