First, congratulations on your pregnancy :-)

Of course your first concern now would be the health of your baby, but your

pediatrician's opinion about your low TSH risking the baby's development

contradicts all medical opinions that I have read.

A HIGH TSH (hypothyroidism) poses a serious risk for the fetus, but a low TSH

simply means that you have enough levothyroxine in your system to prevent the

stimulation of any thyroid cells.

Many members of this list had successful pregnancies and delivered healthy,

normal babies, with their TSH suppressed to <10.

On the other hand, Dr. Ain (one of the contributing doctors on this list) has

said that he often allows the TSH to rise to normal levels during pregnancy,

even though many women find that they need to increase their T4 dose during

pregnancy.

The problem now, I am prenant, this is a glad news for me but after visit my

followup doctor, he refer me to paediatrician. I went to see paedia. she advise

me to lower the dose up to 150mcg/day cos, I have two risk to take, higher dose

will avoid the thyroid cancer recurr, but higher dose will effect the

developement of baby's brain. So I prefer to lower my dose to normal level which

is 150mcg/day cos I really don't want anything happen to the baby. now I have

my FT4 result after a week low dose of thyroxine, which is 20.3 PMOL/L & normal

range is 11.5 - 22.7 PMOL/L. Today(after 10 days of previous FT4 result) I

went for Blood Test again. I will have the result in 3 days. I am now 11 weeks

and 5 days, I really concerned about my baby, and baby's brain development.

Please advise me and teach me what should I do.
