Hi, I'm new to this chat room, and I'm looking for somebody who has a

unicornate uterus and is pregnant with twins or who has had twins.

That is my story. I am 7 1/2 weeks pregnant right now with twins.

I'm scared to death! Before I got pregnant the doctors were telling

me I would probably never have children and I should look into

surrogacy or adoption. Well, we went through 1 cycle of IVF... and

here I am with twins. So far the doctor says everything looks good,

but I know with a unicornate uterus the problem is later in the

pregnancy. We are so thrilled that I'm pregnant, but I'm afraid of

getting my hopes up. Let me also say that I'm 36yrs. old and this

would probably be my last chance. I just need to hear from someone

who has experienced the same situation.

Hi Lynn-

Congrats on your pregnancy! I'm also a UU and have had a DS-just

one-who was born at 36 weeks. I've been hanging around here for

some time now and definitely remember that there were UU twins born

a while back. If I am remembering correctly, I think that it was a

pretty uneventful pregnancy, too. (Anyone remember specifics?)

I'm sorry that I can't share any personal experience, but I thought

it might at least help to hear that there have been success stories

here.

Wishing you all the best,

UU, 30

Hi Lynn, I KNOW there is someone on here pregnant with UU twins

right now. If my memory serves me well, she's be ... oh, 25 weeks

now... maybe 20 weeks. Also if I remember correctly, her doctors

tried to INSIST that she " selectively eliminate " one of the embryos

and she eventually refused. You should search the archives back into

July or so for " UU twins " and you'll find her and you could e-mail

her. Also, in spring 2003 (early spring, I'd say- maybe March?) a

woman named on here gave birth to twins from her UU, a very

uneventful pregnancy. There are also cases of twins in ONE horn of a

BU which is similar to twins in UU. It's certainly rare but it has

been done before! Some UUs are just willing to stretch into

infinity , it seems. Just be sure you've got a doc watching your

cervix and monitoring you closely!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Lynn,

I'm a left UU who has 8 month old identical twin girls. I went 34.4

weeks! My dds are both healthy and doing great. My other dd is eleven

and I went 37 weeks with her.

Let me know if you have any questions, or email me directly.

,

Thanks for your burst of fresh air. It was nice to hear from someone

who has not only gone through this, but has had a positive

experience. I will do everything I can to make sure nothing happens

to these babies, and now just knowing that it can be done makes me

feel so much better. Thank You.
