MICROPLIPIDS VERSES MCT OIL

Hello:

Question: wehn in the hospital is ' formula ( tube fed ) RCF

was mixed with microlipds,,, they sent me home with some for the

first few days,,,, I jsut picked up the order at the pharmacy and

they gave me MCT oil instead of the cute little bottles of

microlipds the hospital gave me......The MCT oil looks different, (

it is clear) the microlpids looked like milky color,,,

is it the same stuff or different?

dont want to make tonights mixure wrong!

Penny,

It is totally different. Call the pharmacy and get the right thing.

Check with your dietician as well.

Bill's right....... I don't know all the ends and outs, but I do know

they are different. If you are out of the microlipids, be sure to call

the dietitian before she goes home to ask her what to do. And call the

pharmacist to let them know of their screw-up.

MCT oil 'burns faster' than other oils. My son is on the MCT/cream diet and we

are able to give him more carbs due to the MCT oil. I would not exchange

microlipids for MCT unless new calculations were made. Also, call the pharmacy

and educate them a bit ;) Hope you get things sorted out :)
