> Can someone tell me if this diet cures celiac. By cure, I mean, eventually

gets you to where you could technically consume gluten again. I didn't think

there was such an option, but something I read the other day (I don't remember

where it was!) led me to believe this.

After four years on SCD I manage Celiac relatively well but must report in truth

still cannot tolerate sugar or gluten and as Rhett said to Scarlett

O'Hara in the film " Gone With the Wind " , " ly my dear, i don't give a ----!.

I have not been symptom free for over a year yet. However, I would NOT give up

my kingdom for a bagel as IMO, SCD food is terrific. In fact after all these

years, last night I made Chicken Nuggets for the very first time and they were

great! No wonder they ar a favorite with SCD kids!

Hi ,

There are a number of adult SCD lists, which are more likely to have

more long time members. Those with celiac disease on this list

probably haven't been on the diet long enough to contemplate trying

non-SCD foods.

I know that on the other adult lists there have been successful

reports from SCDers who did try some non SCD foods after healing

with success. One story in particular stands out in my mind of an

SCDer who travelled to Paris and tried croissants with no problems

(much to her delight). She decided that when she went back home she

would continue with SCD and would only rarely have non-SCD items.

I don't recall if she had celiac's specifically. In BTVC, Elaine

writes, " it is hoped that no one who recovers from his or her

problem by following the Specific Carbohydrate Diet ever returns to

a diet high in refined sugar and refined flour... "

If you want to check out the other lists here is a link for them
