Hi , sorry I didn't get back to you earlier today! Let's see if my

son is sufficiently engrossed in " Dora the Explorer " for me to type for a

while :)

I've had 7 m/c all total, all before 9 weeks (although I found didn't find

out about 2 of them until 10 weeks) ... 2 before getting pregnant with Faith

(one natural and my 1st d & c in 1994), then 2 before getting pregnant with

Braedon (one of these was a twin pregnancy, you could probably count it as 2

m/c since I lost them at different times!), then 3 before getting pregnant

this time. I wasn't under the care of my current OB (who specializes in

maternal/fetal medicine) until 2001. At that time he ordered an HSG and the

typical bloodwork checking for lupus, anti-cardio-lipin and all that. The

HSG confirmed a BU, which he also said wasn't a particular risk factor for

m/c.

However, interestingly enough, I found the radiologist report from 2001 in

our new computer system today (I work at the hospital where I receive care),

and it says that a septum " couldn't be ruled out " and recommended a

follow-up MRI, which I never knew about. Braedon was entirely in one horn,

so a septum wasn't a potential issue during his pregnancy and we never saw

it during any of his ultrasounds.

When we decided to try for a 3rd child in 2003, my dr was mystified by

having continued m/c but said the best predictor of " eventually " having a

successful pregnancy was that I already had children, and just keep trying

(although he did re-check my TSH for thyroid problems).

Well... as it turns out, with this pregnancy being in both horns of the BU,

my uterus eventually expanded and merged into one big ball, and lo and

behold, there was a big ole' septum gently waving in the current between the

two babies (rolling eyes) ... you might be able to tell from my " tone " that

I'm a little disgusted that no one ever followed up on the possibility that

I had a septum AND a BU, maybe I could have gotten the septum removed and

avoided those last 3 m/c! I tell ya, it was emotionally a tough year to

have 3 in a row while raising a 1 year old ...

So although I've never discussed it with my OB (after all, he's gonna be

slicing into me soon, no need to act mad at him ;), I've decided that the

septum was the cause of the m/c all along, and they just didn't investigate

further once they confirmed the BU...

I hope this helps :) It sounds like you have all the right symptoms, let us

know how you're doing!! Are you having an u/s next Monday?

hugs

Mikki

Thanks Mikki and I'm so sorry to hear about the m/c as well as the

possible delay in diagnosing the septum. No one has diagnosed me

with a septum, but they haven't " not " either. The perinatologist

just mentioned after looking at my films that it doesn't look as if

I have a septum.

I really appreciate all your kind words, words of wisdom, and

everythnig else. Yeah, I have an ultrasound next monday. I'll be

6w2d then. Really looking forward to it.

I just sneazed in the car on my way home from work and it gave me a

few seconds of a bad twinge-like/pull/cramp, really low in my

abdomen....of course, now I'm terribly worried that my sneeze did

something! :( I might be over the top in my worrying, but

hey....what can I say.

Cheers,

try not to worry about a sneeze or cough, it's just that your uterus is

already stretching so the sneeze strained a round ligament or something ...

it's actually quite difficult to CAUSE a m/c, that's why there are so many

unwanted babes in the world...
