I'd like some opinions on quiet vehicles you all have experienced. I prefer

a small van or something with lots of trunk space. Thanks for your advice.

We have a Honda Odyssey van. My son, , hears very well in it with his

CI. can hear me in the driver's seat and him in his carseat. He hears the

words to songs and he even hears the turn signal!

As far as the AV therapy question... perhaps your daughter is bored with the

routine. Have you tried changing it up a bit. I know for myself I couldn't

wait to get past making the animal sounds in therapy. It was soooo boring.

We have an Odyssey too. While reading this thread I was thinking that Neal

seems to hear everything in our van. Even when he's in the third row seat I can

have a conversation with him just as good as I can with my hearing daughter.

But at the same time, if someone were to ask me how I thought it sounds, I

would consider my van to be pretty loud. So I wasn't sure if it's just Neal

being good at listening, or the van being a good choice. Still don't know, but

it's interesting that both of our kids hear well in the Odyssey.

Hi - we have a Toyota Sienna (it's nearly 3 years old) and have found it to be

quiet. We had Dodge Caravans before that - they were much noisier!

RObin,

I have heard from others that the Honda mentioned is really quiet.

We have a Ford Expedition that Jake hears fine in from the second

row. I also have a Ford F150 4 door truck I drive all the time that

he hears well in. That was one of our things when we bought it. We

had to test drive the trucks with Jake in the back to see if he could

hear us...I know the salesmen thought we were nuts! My husband

drives an older Windstar van that was fairly quiet when we got it but

as it ages it gets louder and louder.

I also wanted to comment that my son has AN with a CI. There is a

group on yahoogroups that I run for AN if you aren't on it already.

I am a bit behind due to issues dealing with my older child. We

recently had to put him in a self contained class for behaviorally

and emotionally disabled kids. Which is even sadder because he is

academically gifted and this class is NOT very academic. Of course,

he wasn't getting his work done anyway and we hope the structure will

help. I am just a nervous wreck about the whole issue. Oh well, that

is another listserv for me to cry on..........
