Pat-

We've always flown quite successfully. Even when Aubrie was little, she did

just fine. If Aidan has tubes/grommets in his ears, that will eliminate the

pressure build up the rest of us feel. I hope your trips are successful.

Pat, Carmen had no trouble at all flying. I did buy her a seat to be

comfortable and to use her car seat, but she sat on my lap most of the

time. I had no trouble getting all her equipment through either--they

were great! I was worried about her getting sick on the plane because

of recycled air--so I bought a mini air purifier that she wore around

her neck. It is supposed to turn negative ions into positive ones and

it works in a 3 foot perimeter of ther person wearing it. I got it

from tone and it was $60 bucks. I don't know if it worked or

not, but I do know that Carmen stayed healthy out entire 2 week trip

to Disney and she wore it on the plane there and back and in all

public places. It helped me be a little more relaxed!

Take care!!!

We took my daughter to Hawaii a year ago in December. SHe was three

at the time. We had no problems what so ever and it was a nine hour

flight. She has tubes in her ears so there was no problem with

pressure. I would recommend putting your carseat in as luggage

instead of having him sit in it. They are to cumbersome. We just

took lots to do. Also, if he is on liquid formula take it as a

carryon. I called the formula company and was told it would freeze

under the plane and it wouldn't be good anymore. Good luck

Good evening from Ireland, everybody!

Thank you for the replies :)

So apparently there's nothing to worry about.. for once!

What a relief! ;)

Aidan does not have any tube or contrivance in his ears for the

moment so maybe, just in case, I'll talk to the paediatrician or ENT

before flying to see if there's anything they have to point out

regarding his ears.

Also, I found interesting that " air purifier " you mentioned,

, the one for Carmen. What exactly is it? And how big?

Of course, needless to mention, I'm more excited than Aidan and his

daddy together about the trip! And there's still some months to go!!

LOL

Pat :D

PS> Ellen, could you post some of your hot sunshine for me,

pleeease?

I saw a bright sphere in the sky yesterday, but I'm not sure if it

is the same sun as they one you Aussies have down there.. or maybe

it's just running out of batteries by the time it gets up here!!

LOL XD

Pat, The air purifier is actually only about 1/4 inch wide and about 3

inches long. It clips to Carmen's clothes or she can wear it around

her neck. It is called the PureIon Travel Ionic Air Purifier and you

can find it on www.brookstone.com or try clicking on the link below.

http://www.brookstone.com/shop/product.asp?product_code=446773 & search_type=searc\

h & search_words=pureion%20travel & prodtemp=t2 & cm_re=Result*R1C1*T

By the way, Pat, Sheila is getting so excited about her trip to

Ireland in June! I hope you two have a chance to connect while she's

in Galway, as I know she would love to see Aidan. I'll keep you

posted as to when she'll be there, the hotel she's staying, etc.

Take care and have a wonderful time on your trip. Good luck with

getting Aidan there safe and healthy!

Pat,

The only pain in the neck thing for us was the travel insurance because of

congenital heart problems (though now repaired). Shopped around and all

ludicrously expensive. We did find the least expensive thanks to another

CHARGE land person. Can't recall who but if you want the details, we can

look up quite easily. Otherwise, our very long flight to Miami last year

was surprisingly painless. Both girls were complete stars and were easily

kept occupied or asleep. Of course your flight is not that far so hopefully

even easier.

Your excitement is so infectious. Enjoy your trip when it comes around.

I find even at 9 that we take a flight approved car seat for Dylan - would

be a nightmare without! When he was young he handled the pressure changes

Pat - Ethan flew for the first time last summer to the CHARGE conference at age

3. I was worried too how he would do, but he was great. I'm not sure if your

son is tube fed, but if he is, and you would have to do any feedings on the

plane, be sure to check with the airline if your feeding pump is approved to be

used while in flight. Have a good trip.

This time my question refers to FLYING.

Any particular experience or problem to share regarding this?

I'm taking Aidan in Spring to my hometown and that trip involves 2

short flights: 45 mins + 2 hours.. but as it'll be the first time

he'll be flying, I would like to know about your experiences, in case

there's something about it I should be aware of.. just in case!

Thank you in advance for your inputs, as always..
